# Introduction

**CineDream is a color grading plugin.**

You can use it to color grade video, as it works with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut and DaVinci Resolve. Or use it to color grade photos, as it works with Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. Plus, you can use it in standalone mode, as an independent app, to color grade photos.

CineDream will let you:

-Perform a base correction, fixing any exposure and balance issues.

-Organize your footage or photos into groups to quickly copy corrections between images and match them.

-And apply a final grade or look grade to each group for that final cinematic feel.

To accomplish this you’ll be able to use traditional tools like sliders, wheels and curves as well as direct on screen grading, which let’s you control all those tools, just by clicking and dragging over the image.

This page is a technical manual where you’ll find all the information needed to install, navigate and use CineDream.

# Buy CineDream

You can buy CineDream from the official website.

In the pricing section, just select the version of CineDream you want to buy.

You can choose an Annual Subscription, which will give you ongoing access to new features, maintenance updates and technical support.

Or choose a Perpetual License, which will give you access to new features, maintenance updates and technical support for 30 months with the option to extend that support yearly.

Both options will give you access to CineDream for all host softwares (Premiere, Final Cut, Resolve, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop) as well as the standalone version, for both Mac and Windows.

Each license supports up to two devices, and you can easily deactivate a license and assign it to another device.

After applying CineDream to the clips, another way to open it besides the Open Controls button is to open CineDream as a standalone app and choose Open a grading session within host. This will open a session containing the clips in your timeline to which you applied CineDream to.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FfX2ZCrUxl9Il9IQfpAzw%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%207.49.05%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=f03db28a-4fda-4325-9d39-330c4b44edc8" alt="" width="172"><figcaption><p>Open a grading session within host</p></figcaption></figure>

Once you are happy with your corrections and grade it is time to send them back to Resolve. Select Apply from the top right corner, then you can minimize or close CineDream. Back to Resolve, go to the Inspector panel and hit the Apply button in the CineDream effect. The grade will be applied to the clip.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FZ8okGxOLqs7jdFajvBc7%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%209.10.01%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d377e201-c183-4ba6-a3a8-a8e1e13e9401" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In Resolve, CineDream has two pages instead of three, Base Correction and Final Grading. This is because Resolve can’t send multiple clips at a time to CineDream. To quickly move on to the next clip, just select the clip in Resolve, switch back to CineDream (use cmd/ctrl + tab to quickly toggle between apps) and click Refresh for the new clip to load.

\
Alternatively you can use CineDream at a group or timeline level as a color management/film emulation/grading tool. You can start by adding CineDream to a group, setting the input color profile, film emulation and final grade, then go back at a clip level to use Resolve’s native tool for base correction and matching.

Additionally you can export stills from video clips using the Share Button at the top right corner.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FBufHXbyJymVZaKnkMOnq%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%207.52.42%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=3ecde1b8-a215-47bc-bc93-fb51a0b18d78" alt="" width="273"><figcaption><p>Share</p></figcaption></figure>

When selecting Export or Batch Export you’ll be taken to the **Export Image Panel**. There you can choose the File Name, Location, Aspect Ratio, Format and Resolution. The Aspect section let’s you crop the image either manually or with one of 4 presets of commonly used aspect ratios. On the preview window on the right you can customize the crop.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FLoZJs7tO5eqiLClTirJs%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%208.10.57%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=77bc5fb0-4348-4d0e-b99b-5cf30a9c7eb6" alt=""><figcaption><p>Export Image Panel</p></figcaption></figure>

# Adobe Photoshop

In **Adobe** **Photoshop**, open CineDream as a standalone app, then go back to Photoshop, go to Plugins and select CineDream, then choose between sending the image or a layer to CineDream and they will load inside CineDream. The first time you use CineDream in Photoshop you will have to choose a location for temporary files.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2F3D2LzBuYxIhGZNTJZ68M%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%208.20.30%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=af7b3d54-4542-4327-a854-7d81ae95ad01" alt="" width="301"><figcaption><p>CineDream in the Plugins Panel</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FWkXwEHKAFrW3TKoLcJMw%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%208.19.39%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=7dfc0a17-e698-4867-b4e6-4f58e71d585c" alt="" width="340"><figcaption><p>CineDream Panel</p></figcaption></figure>

Once you are done with the grade hit the Share button on the top right corner. Then select Send to Photoshop from the dropdown menu. Back to Photoshop, you'll find the graded images. Alternatively you can go back to Photoshop and select Retrieve as New Image or as New Layer.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FtaY8cHWpjkHgiuvontrM%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%208.24.19%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d469c0fb-c03e-4933-bb29-fdb14eedc7e6" alt="" width="274"><figcaption><p>Share</p></figcaption></figure>

# Adobe Lightroom Classic

{% embed url="<https://colorgradingcentral.wistia.com/medias/cy06udq883>" %}

In **Adobe** **Lightroom Classic**, select one or more photos, right click, go to Edit In from the dropdown contextual menu, and select CineDream. CineDream will open up and load those photos.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FS4xrdbA0xZaQgoyGRsqu%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%208.26.39%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=41a7c8b7-94fd-4f69-bb5e-4184ca9d7504" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Sending photos from Lightroom Classic to CineDream</p></figcaption></figure>

Once you are done with the grade hit the Share button on the top right corner.  Then select Save image(s) to Lightroom from the dropdown menu.  Back to Lightroom, you'll find the graded images.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FtaY8cHWpjkHgiuvontrM%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%208.24.19%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d469c0fb-c03e-4933-bb29-fdb14eedc7e6" alt="" width="274"><figcaption><p>Share</p></figcaption></figure>

# Standalone Mode

{% embed url="<https://colorgradingcentral.wistia.com/medias/p3z82tpyk3>" %}

In Standalone Mode, CineDream works as any independent app.  Open the app and choose Add New Photos to import photos through Finder/Browser or drag the photos directly into CineDream.&#x20;

If this is not the first time using CineDream and you already saved projects you can choose Open an existing photo project or choose a project from the Recent Photo projects section at the bottom.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FlVekwJT64fLBEefqRFoc%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%207.56.06%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=c73813fe-ccdd-4255-9895-29861a821ee8" alt="" width="375"><figcaption><p>Open a Standalone project</p></figcaption></figure>

Once you are done with the grade hit the Share button on the top right corner. A contextual menu will be displayed with these options:

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FtaY8cHWpjkHgiuvontrM%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%208.24.19%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d469c0fb-c03e-4933-bb29-fdb14eedc7e6" alt="" width="274"><figcaption><p>Share menu</p></figcaption></figure>

**Quick Save (Duplicate):** To save a duplicate of the current image. &#x20;

**Export Image(s):** To export 1 or more images. You can export the image you are currently parked at or select multiple images in the FilmStrip (more on that in the FilmStrip section).

**Batch Export all Grade Images:** To export only the graded images in the project.

**Batch export all images:** To export all the images in the project.

When selecting Export or Batch Export you’ll be taken to the **Export Image Panel**. There you can choose the File Name, Location, Aspect Ratio, Format and Resolution. The Aspect section let’s you crop the image either manually or with one of 4 presets of commonly used aspect ratios. On the preview window on the right you can customize the crop.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FLoZJs7tO5eqiLClTirJs%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%208.10.57%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=77bc5fb0-4348-4d0e-b99b-5cf30a9c7eb6" alt=""><figcaption><p>Export Image Panel</p></figcaption></figure>

**Share Project:** This option is exclusive to projects created for photos. It will let you create a .cdp file containing your project so you can back it up or move it to a different computer. In the case of video host applications, the project is contained within your video editing software project. Additionally you’ll find options to send the image you are currently working at to Photoshop or Lightroom Classic.

# Color Management

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FothHCXhIGrVOOrx0osvu%2Fmismatch.png?alt=media&amp;token=a29bde7e-7db5-4d24-bc77-b61497320d7a" alt=""><figcaption><p>CineDream viewer vs Adobe Premiere Pro Viewer mismatch</p></figcaption></figure>

If you are experiencing mismatch issues between what you see in CineDream’s viewer and in the host application, it is most likely a color management issue.&#x20;

We want to make sure both the host application and CineDream are working in the same color space and gamma. CineDream delivers in the Rec709 color space and can be set to use gamma 2.4 for broadcast, 2.2 for web and 1.96 for quicktime.

The other setting to consider is you monitor’s ICC profile. The ICC profile does the corresponding transformations so your images are displayed correctly in your specific monitor. &#x20;

The ICC profile settings should match between the host application and CineDream.

In the next sections we’ll show you how to change these settings on both the host application and CineDream in order to achieve a 1:1 match.

You’ll find CineDream color management settings under Preferences/Color.\
\
Mac: CineDream menu → Preferences\
\
Windows: Edit menu → Preferences

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2Fli0KMCrCSFdrACCbc8XK%2Fpreferences%20color%20menu.png?alt=media&amp;token=f76df011-0088-4321-b75a-d3a757a46a2d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Color Management Adobe Premiere Pro

{% embed url="<https://colorgradingcentral.wistia.com/medias/ritxeg3f6b?embedType=async&seo=false&videoFoam=true&videoWidth=1920>" %}

In Adobe Premiere Pro there are 3 color management menus to pay attention to.

Settings→Color

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FI8jo4LiaQZ4FdVjijsZn%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.14.41%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=8a0da747-f077-4811-93a4-25085e88e200" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In this menu you’ll find the option to enable/disable Display Color Management. Enabling Display Color Management means Premiere will do the necessary conversions to ensure the image displayed in Premiere’s viewer adapts to the characteristics and color space of your monitor. This is equivalent to switching the ICC Profile on.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FhrshycIZeGxAj9F0Ccrx%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.11.53%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=cd5dd40e-86d0-45fe-a9a8-aef1e1dc5dc0" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This option not always yields the expected results and the conversion might not be accurate. We encourage you to run some tests and see if the images displayed in Premiere look closer or not to what you see on other devices like smartphones, tablets and TVs with this option enabled. Based on that you can opt to keep it on or off.

Then make sure to match these same setting inside CineDream.

In Preferences/Color, make sure ICC Profile is checked if you chose to keep Display Color Management enabled in Premiere, and unchecked if you chose to keep Display Color Management disabled.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FlAjWO7U552997m04Kpjl%2Fpreferences%20color%20menu%20prmiere.png?alt=media&amp;token=b7331675-4f58-4a2d-9f19-cdf450f83f34" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

It is important to remember these settings are not changing your images, just how those images are displayed in the viewer. Changing these settings won’t change the grade or the look of the exported file.

The next menu to look at in Premiere is Project Settings→Color

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FJ7BFQ0lqa3oQQmw06HcO%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.12.14%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=7a97897a-20dd-48ce-b876-71dad8b6ea19" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here we can change the Gamma of the project depending on your intended delivery. 2.4 for broadcast, 2.2 for web, 1.96 for quicktime.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FZETUryk7Hgwa9LKgjyBP%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.12.25%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=188bde9b-99b9-40ba-8023-215714704268" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Back to CineDream, in the Preferences/Color menu, change the gamma accordingly.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2Fghbheh3NukkMs4dAtJgW%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.31.39%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=100f0908-9670-4fd4-9650-f574186c86d7" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

And finally, go to the Sequence Settings Menu

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FjnrPLwiz02hyt7NOy68y%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.32.40%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d82554e2-a231-44c3-8c6d-0f179c6dc16a" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Make sure the sequence is set to Rec709 as CineDream works in Rec709 by default.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FZpSHsAO6dAuDCe15LZom%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.13.03%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=86b094d3-76e7-48a4-a1d0-887714310138" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After reviewing these 3 Premiere menus and setting CineDream accordingly, both the CineDream viewer and Premiere Viewer/Monitor should match perfectly.

If you notice that your log footage shows transformed to Rec709 inside Premiere without ever doing any color correction, it means Premiere is applying a LUT or color space override onto your footage based on its metadata.&#x20;

We don’t want this as CineDream is designed to handle all your color space management and it is expecting to get the native image untouched. To disable any Premiere conversion, select all your clips in the Project panel, right click and go to Modify/Color.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FTJslUiSFJqYKe4iGcAdg%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.55.05%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=9675ff32-2634-480b-badb-a3d38b4a9c54" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Make sure no input LUT is applied and the used color space is Rec709, with Override Media Color Space disabled.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FDMabrnivTKJl8UCjgZtX%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.55.14%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=e19a9670-96d4-47f0-9d64-f58643761f25" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

With the color management settings matched between CineDream and Adobe Premiere Pro you can expect a 1:1 match.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2F7X7iziikGDOJ0jRdDlx9%2Fpremiere%20match.png?alt=media&amp;token=9312bcd9-c83b-4d45-b3e1-fafec7d5dbfc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Color Management Final Cut Pro

{% embed url="<https://colorgradingcentral.wistia.com/medias/g80sbejhjz?embedType=web_component&seo=true&videoWidth=960>" %}

Inside Final Cut Pro there are 4 settings to pay attention to.

First the Library’s color space. Select the library and go to Library Properties. Make sure it is set to Standard Gamut SDR. If that’s not the case, click Modify and change it.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FkjUOdmIIVvIbr2N3uiNC%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.43.12%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=26d56279-e44e-4c33-bd34-09682e615924" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FCSQK54ALFEl2ChXow5rK%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.43.28%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=623a89c4-e569-42f3-aeab-0e20871cce62" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By default the project inside a Standard Gamut SDR Library should be set to Rec709. If you want to make sure, select a project and it should be tagged as Rec709 in the inspector.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FH795JdmRNp1ZK6tbRbuT%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.47.58%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=2bebc170-9230-4b39-8406-1e696b2ac4b4" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If that’s not the case, click modify and change it.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2Fzbfx6SzDfswSbzHz13JD%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.48.08%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d7fae753-3cca-4e43-a49a-2f6c8fab36ea" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By default Final Cut Pro works with ICC Profile on and Gamma 1.96. This means that the software is always doing the necessary transformations for the image to display correctly inside Final Cut. Back to CineDream, you’ll see this settings are displayed but greyed out as there is no need to change them.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FrwL7rnJ7Yy0oVY8viOpJ%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%201.42.21%E2%80%AFPM%20copy.png?alt=media&amp;token=d295e973-8a76-4eff-921f-7a48c80ff2b1" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you notice that your log footage shows transformed to Rec709 inside Final Cut without ever doing any color correction, it means Final Cut is applying a LUT or color space override onto your footage based on its metadata.  We don’t want this as CineDream is designed to handle all your color space management and it is expecting to get the native image untouched. &#x20;

To disable any Final Cut conversion, select all your clips in the Library, go to the Video Inspector and disable Color Conform.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FxvseEztxjYo9rXkTW7gx%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%209.05.13%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=fc204fcd-161d-4be8-8ab4-c5139920decb" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Then go to the Info Inspector and make sure no LUT is applied under Camera LUT.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FnaVgEDnbT1CJYSQk8877%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%209.04.22%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=8dfe102e-5f81-4987-aab9-5179e27e045a" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

With the color management settings matched between CineDream and Final Cut Pro you can expect a 1:1 match.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FK9NkWMDUMIbu4AR3Nt5u%2Ffinal%20cut%20match.png?alt=media&amp;token=4076f7e7-d0e2-4df5-a5cb-5fe2923e77a1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Color Management DaVinci Resolve

{% embed url="<https://colorgradingcentral.wistia.com/medias/fo07t49ntm?embedType=web_component&seo=true&videoWidth=960>" %}

In DaVinci Resolve there are 2 color management menus to pay attention to.

Preferences→General

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2F5AyTKukZbpJyukFTeuZY%2FScreenshot%202025-10-24%20at%2010.57.24%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=5e859dc2-b5c6-4cef-8b07-7765923dac20" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here you can choose to enable/disable "Use Mac display color profiles for viewers" (on Mac) and "Use Windows display color management and HDR for viewers" (on Windows) which is equivalent to switching your monitor's ICC Profile on or off.

Enabling it means Resolve will do the necessary conversions to ensure the image displayed in Resolve’s viewer adapts to the characteristics and color space of your monitor.&#x20;

This option not always yields the expected results and the conversion might not be accurate. We encourage you to run some tests and see if the images displayed in Resolve looks closer or not to what you see on other devices like smartphones, tablets and TVs with this option enabled. Based on that you can opt to keep it on or off.

For Mac users, below the "Use Mac display color profiles for viewers" option you'll find "Viewers match Quicktime player when using Rec.709 (Scene)". This option is aimed at making Resolve's viewer match Quicktime Player's viewer, as a way to address the famous gamma shift issue on Mac. This setting will only affect Resolve's viewer when Rec.709 (Scene) is selected in the Color Management menu. If you want to make your images match between Resolve and Quicktime Player, enable this option and we will show you how to set Color Management and CineDream Preferences acordingly in the paragraphs below.

After settings Preferences we need to match this same settings inside CineDream.

In Preferences/Color, make sure ICC Profile is checked if you chose to keep Display Color Management enabled in Resolve, and unchecked if you chose to keep Display Color Management disabled.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FCEPoFxEieR07KGkhdBWm%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%201.42.21%E2%80%AFPM%20copy%202.png?alt=media&amp;token=06f3623e-7bf4-42f5-9bbe-76b7f94e3804" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The second menu to look at is Project Settings/Color Management

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FAtG9cajhT6K1Tqjdk0Cu%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%209.23.01%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=9208996a-ddde-4132-b31d-5024794bb804" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here make sure Color Science is set to DaVinci YRGB, this means you’ll be using a non-color managed workflow. This is important because all your color management will happen inside CineDream and we don’t want two different color managements, Resolve and CineDream, to collide.

Then for Timeline and Output color space choose Rec709, gamma 2.4 for broadcast or 2.2 for web, depending on your intended delivery. If you checked "Viewers match Quicktime player when using Rec.709 (Scene)" in the Preferences menu to ensure Resolve and Quicktime Player match, change the Timeline color space and Output color space to Rec709 (Scene).

Back to CineDream, Preferences/Color menu, set the gamma accordingly. If you chose Rec709 (Scene), change Gamma to 1.9 (Apple), as that is the Gamma used in Quicktime Player.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FoAQtDDFwGSOidAmD05Km%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%209.34.39%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=877549f1-7f78-4fbc-a24f-44c113450a33" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

With the color management settings matched between CineDream and Adobe Premiere Pro you can expect a 1:1 match.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FGQrNrN1epDQOIT5yj6GV%2Fresolve%20match.png?alt=media&amp;token=0254af3c-1a18-4ad9-9c2b-fe2ca346ec2e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Color Management for Photos (Photoshop, Lightroom Classic and Standalone mode)

When working with photos the operating system and the host applications will work with ICC Profile on by default. Meaning the software is doing the necessary transforms to display the images correctly in your monitor. In this cases, by default, the gamma used is 2.2, optimized for web delivery.

Back in CineDream, Preferences/Color, you’ll see those are the settings displayed, ICC Profile enabled and Gamma 2.2 (web). They are greyed out as there is no reason to change them.

CineDream viewer and the host application viewers (Photoshop and Lightroom Classic) should match.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FYorbbj52DF7GtqQsqM2d%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%201.42.21%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=727fb1bc-e7f1-4c15-94ff-1b9f1422cc61" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# DaVinci Resolve Users: Watch this!

CineDream for DaVinci Resolve can be used in two different ways:

1. Full Editor, which is the closest experience to what you get with CineDream for Adobe Premiere and Final Cut, but with 2 pages (Base Correction & Final Grading) instead of three (Base Correciton, Shot Matching & Final Grading), so the grouping and matching workflow is a little different.
2. OFX Plugins (Base Corretion & Final Grading), which are two plugins you can use inside DaVinci Resolve without having to launch a separate application. These plugins work like regular effects, with controls inside Resolve's UI and provide you the same tools as the Full Editor but with direct on screen grading over Resolve's viewer.

Please watch this video to learn how to use CineDream Full Editor inside DaVinci Resolve.

# Preferences & LUTs

Under the CineDream menu at the top on Mac or the File menu on Windows you’ll find Preferences.

**The Preferences panel has 4 sections**:

**Color:** Here you can set the viewer's color management to match that of your NLE's viewer. You can enable/disable the ICC Profile and change the Gamma for DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro as they are the only ones that let you change those settingsin their corresponding preferences settings. Final Cut Pro has ICC always on and Gamma 1.9 by default. And CineDream in standalone mode uses ICC and Gamma 2.2 to match your computer monitor.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FetJvzO1cLL9vOlvNhIll%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%209.02.46%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=dc0b291b-8298-4d8e-b101-48d86b3dd159" alt="" width="375"><figcaption><p>Color Management menu</p></figcaption></figure>

**LUTs:** You can use this menu to import LUTs into CineDream. Use the + icon to add folders containing LUTs and the - icon to remove them. Remember, the folders should remain in their location as CineDream references to them directly. For both folders and LUT names you should avoid symbols like ( ) “ # and spaces. Once imported the LUTs will show up in the LUT Previewer as part of the Look Panel in the Final Grading Page.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FkQCcnKueepF7jlHWJq7U%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%209.02.55%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=762d138c-991f-4d8e-a44d-541f8203f642" alt="" width="375"><figcaption><p>LUTs menu</p></figcaption></figure>

**Images:** This menu is exclusive for working with photos. CineDream lets you export photos in JPG, TIFF and PNG. You can choose the quality/bit depth for those formats and the default exporting format.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FkgI3Itw8ldQS7FQMbny0%2FScreenshot%202025-09-14%20at%209.03.04%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=cf6ceb52-2d7c-4acf-a801-f02788b69e76" alt="" width="375"><figcaption><p>Images menu</p></figcaption></figure>

# CineDream 3 Pages Interface

CineDream interface is organized into 3 pages. You can switch between these 3 pages clicking on the button at the top center of the interface or through the View dropdown menu.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FrRvFaqpN60iJro7SHkLS%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%208.12.26%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=0e05f99c-57b0-4821-af5a-5e01d6e55090" alt=""><figcaption><p>3 Pages Interface</p></figcaption></figure>

The only exception to this layout is in Resolve where CineDream does not have a Shot Matching page. Due to limitations on how CineDream communicates with DaVinci Resolve, multiple clips can’t be viewed in CineDream at the same time, which makes impossible to use grouping and shot matching. You can use CineDream to create a Base Correction or a Final Grade on a per clip basis. To apply that correction or final grade to multiple clips, you can copy and paste CineDream to other clips inside Resolve’s UI as you would with any other effect or property.

# Base Correction Page

In this page you can use the Develop Panel on the left to perform color management, transforming any log footage and adding a CineDream preset for a film look, and use the tools in the Color Correction Tools Panel to correct exposure, color balance and other issues.

# Shot Matching Page

This page is composed of two sections. First **Group Shots**, where you can organize your footage in groups based on any criteria you consider fit, scene, camera, etc. Then you can move on to the **Match Shots** section, where you can view the Hero shot of each group on the left viewer and the other images on the right viewer. Here you can easily copy corrections between images and use the side by side view to match the images.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FRAgTg2an1rTz0qAKyfeu%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%208.54.17%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=3842f665-7c47-4676-9c5a-667ea69ac13c" alt="" width="225"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Below this section you’ll find a plus icon that let’s you apply a second LUT. The options for this second LUT are identical to the ones for the first LUT. This allows you to mix LUTs, for example you can use the Luma from the first LUT and the Colors from the second one.

Then there is a **CineDream section** where you can enable/disable CineDream and access additional tools to mimic the look of Film:

**Film Density:** From here you can add Highlights Roll-Off, Fade Film for shadows, Global Density, to make the color more dense, or use the color swatches to control the density of specific colors.

# Scopes

# Regular Scopes

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2F13iSwFqd9XLFoRKUppha%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%208.57.25%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=9d32301c-e6f7-466b-be0c-cad22d104120" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

When this option is enabled, a panel containing the scopes shows up at the bottom of the interface. It contains 4 scopes, Waveform, Parade, Vectorscope and Histogram.

The **Waveform** scope can be switched into an **RGB Parade** scope with the buttons at the left side of the Waveform.

The **Vectorscope** can be switched between trace displayed at 100% and 133% with the control at the top right corner of the scope.

At the top left corner of the scopes panel the **Detach Scopes** button. When enabled the panel will be detached from the main interface. That way you can move it to a second screen, and have more real state for the main viewer on your main monitor.

# False Colors

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FUWftx7lGnVtqOPYNqrfK%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%208.58.13%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=ac4aa50c-8e20-4b56-b6d7-8a34b87a9c0d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The False Colors scope when enabled will display the image in the main viewer in False Color Mode. At the left side of the viewer you’ll find a legend showing the range from 0 to 100 IRE with the corresponding colors.

# False Color Skin Tones

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FepDGxIELjJ2NnfI16IOi%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%208.58.22%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=bb9b1bc0-6873-426f-9b12-a38c9fa61018" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The False Color Skin Tones scope when enabled will display the image in the main viewer in False Color Skin Tones Mode. At the bottom of the viewer you’ll find a legend showing the colors that represent skin tones.

# Direct On-Screen Grading

Direct On-Screen Grading consist in the ability to control most of the color correction tools in CineDream by clicking and dragging directly over the image in the main viewer and the scopes.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FXx1RFBdkt2eGrOCoQwK7%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%209.06.16%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=cb83fa5e-2cb8-44df-bac0-8a8a2f340193" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can select a tool using the button in the top tools layout or with a hotkey. For tools that affect global parameters like exposure or temperature, you can click anywhere on the image and drag up or down. But those that affect exclusively a luminance range or a color, click over the area of the image you want to change and CineDream will automatically know at want luma range or color you are pointing at and modify its parameters.

For example, select the shadows/midtones/highlights tool with the Shift-E hotkey, click over the image, and CineDream will know if you are pointing a shadows, midtones or highlights area and modify that specific range as you drag up or down.

This same principle applies to the shadows/midtones/highlights saturation tool, Color Wheels, Curves and HSL.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FJLiDSw5MkrS6Z1iYDxpJ%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%209.06.57%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=b64d0160-5abd-4fbe-a271-424c6e0f6bd0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Further more some of the tools have modifiers that are shown at the bottom left corner of the viewer once the tool is selected. For example by clicking H you select the HSL tool. If you click over a color and drag up or down you’ll be modifying its hue, but if you press the Option key while dragging, it will modify the Luma, and by pressing command it will modify Saturation.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2Fm5Xw8wse0lf0EAbYYYOX%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%209.12.30%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d95d364c-8466-44fa-a078-2a271db5af07" alt="" width="285"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Direct On-Screen Grading can be applied to the scopes too. Click over the waveform, parade or histogram scopes to affect exposure, color balance and saturation. Use the HSL tool over the vectorscope to affect hue, saturation and luma of specific color ranges.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2F13iSwFqd9XLFoRKUppha%2FScreenshot%202025-03-13%20at%208.57.25%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=9d32301c-e6f7-466b-be0c-cad22d104120" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Is CineDream a free upgrade if I own Cinema Grade and/or Photo Grade?

No, CineDream is a new product that requires a separate license purchase. However, current owners of Cinema Grade and Photo Grade will receive early adopter access and exclusive upgrade pricing.

Will my Cinema Grade and Photo Grade licenses continue to work?

Yes, your existing Cinema Grade and Photo Grade licenses will continue to function as perpetual licenses. We will provide necessary maintenance updates free of charge, so you can continue using them even if you decide to upgrade to CineDream.

Can I use my Cinema Grade 1.0 projects in CineDream?

* Film emulation presets (CineLab, CineBoss, etc.)
* Advanced color wheels
* Bloom, halation, and grain effects
* Improved shot matching with split-screen views
* Film density controls
* Subtractive saturation
* Enhanced scopes (waveform, RGB parade, vectorscope)

#### Will CineDream have AI features?

AI features are not planned for the initial release but are being explored for future updates. We're focusing first on perfecting the point-and-click color grading concept with granular manual control.

#### Does CineDream support masking?

Basic masking features like vignette and gradient ramp are supported. For more advanced masking including tracking, you can use your NLE's built-in masking tools in combination with CineDream.

#### Can I export LUTs from CineDream?

LUT export is not planned for the initial release due to our proprietary emulations, but this may be considered for future updates.

#### Will there be support for control surfaces?

Control surface support is on our development roadmap but won't be available in the initial release.

# Pricing & Licensing

#### Will there be an upgrade discount for existing users?

Yes, current owners of Cinema Grade and/or Photo Grade will receive exclusive upgrade pricing and early adopter access.

#### Do I need separate licenses for Mac and Windows?

No, CineDream uses a single license that works on both Mac and Windows platforms.

#### Do I need to purchase CineDream separately for each NLE?

No, one CineDream license works across all supported editing platforms (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Lightroom Classic).

# Technical & Compatibility

#### What editing software does CineDream support?

CineDream supports:

* Adobe Premiere Pro
* DaVinci Resolve
* Final Cut Pro
* Adobe Photoshop

Not currently at this time as we are targeting Rec709 workflows for 1.0 release. But we do plan to revisit this as part of our development roadmap once color pipelines become more standardized and fully implemented in the major three NLEs.

# Colors in CineDream don't match viewer in editor

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FothHCXhIGrVOOrx0osvu%2Fmismatch.png?alt=media&amp;token=a29bde7e-7db5-4d24-bc77-b61497320d7a" alt=""><figcaption><p>CineDream viewer vs Adobe Premiere Pro Viewer mismatch</p></figcaption></figure>

If you are experiencing mismatch issues between what you see in CineDream’s viewer and in the host application, it is most likely a color management issue.&#x20;

We want to make sure both the host application and CineDream are working in the same color space and gamma. CineDream delivers in the Rec709 color space and can be set to use gamma 2.4 for broadcast, 2.2 for web and 1.96 for quicktime.

The other setting to consider is you monitor’s ICC profile. The ICC profile does the corresponding transformations so your images are displayed correctly in your specific monitor. &#x20;

# Color Management Adobe Premiere Pro

{% embed url="<https://colorgradingcentral.wistia.com/medias/ritxeg3f6b?embedType=async&seo=false&videoFoam=true&videoWidth=1920>" %}

In Adobe Premiere Pro there are 3 color management menus to pay attention to.

Settings→Color

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FI8jo4LiaQZ4FdVjijsZn%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.14.41%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=8a0da747-f077-4811-93a4-25085e88e200" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In this menu you’ll find the option to enable/disable Display Color Management. Enabling Display Color Management means Premiere will do the necessary conversions to ensure the image displayed in Premiere’s viewer adapts to the characteristics and color space of your monitor. This is equivalent to switching the ICC Profile on.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FhrshycIZeGxAj9F0Ccrx%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.11.53%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=cd5dd40e-86d0-45fe-a9a8-aef1e1dc5dc0" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This option not always yields the expected results and the conversion might not be accurate. We encourage you to run some tests and see if the images displayed in Premiere look closer or not to what you see on other devices like smartphones, tablets and TVs with this option enabled. Based on that you can opt to keep it on or off.

Then make sure to match these same setting inside CineDream.

In Preferences/Color, make sure ICC Profile is checked if you chose to keep Display Color Management enabled in Premiere, and unchecked if you chose to keep Display Color Management disabled.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FlAjWO7U552997m04Kpjl%2Fpreferences%20color%20menu%20prmiere.png?alt=media&amp;token=b7331675-4f58-4a2d-9f19-cdf450f83f34" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

It is important to remember these settings are not changing your images, just how those images are displayed in the viewer. Changing these settings won’t change the grade or the look of the exported file.

The next menu to look at in Premiere is Project Settings→Color

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FJ7BFQ0lqa3oQQmw06HcO%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.12.14%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=7a97897a-20dd-48ce-b876-71dad8b6ea19" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here we can change the Gamma of the project depending on your intended delivery. 2.4 for broadcast, 2.2 for web, 1.96 for quicktime.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FZETUryk7Hgwa9LKgjyBP%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.12.25%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=188bde9b-99b9-40ba-8023-215714704268" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Back to CineDream, in the Preferences/Color menu, change the gamma accordingly.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2Fghbheh3NukkMs4dAtJgW%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.31.39%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=100f0908-9670-4fd4-9650-f574186c86d7" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

And finally, go to the Sequence Settings Menu

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FjnrPLwiz02hyt7NOy68y%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.32.40%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d82554e2-a231-44c3-8c6d-0f179c6dc16a" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Make sure the sequence is set to Rec709 as CineDream works in Rec709 by default.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FZpSHsAO6dAuDCe15LZom%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.13.03%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=86b094d3-76e7-48a4-a1d0-887714310138" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After reviewing these 3 Premiere menus and setting CineDream accordingly, both the CineDream viewer and Premiere Viewer/Monitor should match perfectly.

If you notice that your log footage shows transformed to Rec709 inside Premiere without ever doing any color correction, it means Premiere is applying a LUT or color space override onto your footage based on its metadata.&#x20;

We don’t want this as CineDream is designed to handle all your color space management and it is expecting to get the native image untouched. To disable any Premiere conversion, select all your clips in the Project panel, right click and go to Modify/Color.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FTJslUiSFJqYKe4iGcAdg%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.55.05%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=9675ff32-2634-480b-badb-a3d38b4a9c54" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Make sure no input LUT is applied and the used color space is Rec709, with Override Media Color Space disabled.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FDMabrnivTKJl8UCjgZtX%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.55.14%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=e19a9670-96d4-47f0-9d64-f58643761f25" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

With the color management settings matched between CineDream and Adobe Premiere Pro you can expect a 1:1 match.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2F7X7iziikGDOJ0jRdDlx9%2Fpremiere%20match.png?alt=media&amp;token=9312bcd9-c83b-4d45-b3e1-fafec7d5dbfc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Color Management Final Cut Pro

{% embed url="<https://colorgradingcentral.wistia.com/medias/g80sbejhjz?embedType=web_component&seo=true&videoWidth=960>" %}

Inside Final Cut Pro there are 4 settings to pay attention to.

First the Library’s color space. Select the library and go to Library Properties. Make sure it is set to Standard Gamut SDR. If that’s not the case, click Modify and change it.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FkjUOdmIIVvIbr2N3uiNC%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.43.12%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=26d56279-e44e-4c33-bd34-09682e615924" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FCSQK54ALFEl2ChXow5rK%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.43.28%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=623a89c4-e569-42f3-aeab-0e20871cce62" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By default the project inside a Standard Gamut SDR Library should be set to Rec709. If you want to make sure, select a project and it should be tagged as Rec709 in the inspector.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FH795JdmRNp1ZK6tbRbuT%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.47.58%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=2bebc170-9230-4b39-8406-1e696b2ac4b4" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If that’s not the case, click modify and change it.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2Fzbfx6SzDfswSbzHz13JD%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%208.48.08%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d7fae753-3cca-4e43-a49a-2f6c8fab36ea" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By default Final Cut Pro works with ICC Profile on and Gamma 1.96. This means that the software is always doing the necessary transformations for the image to display correctly inside Final Cut. Back to CineDream, you’ll see this settings are displayed but greyed out as there is no need to change them.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FrwL7rnJ7Yy0oVY8viOpJ%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%201.42.21%E2%80%AFPM%20copy.png?alt=media&amp;token=d295e973-8a76-4eff-921f-7a48c80ff2b1" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you notice that your log footage shows transformed to Rec709 inside Final Cut without ever doing any color correction, it means Final Cut is applying a LUT or color space override onto your footage based on its metadata.  We don’t want this as CineDream is designed to handle all your color space management and it is expecting to get the native image untouched. &#x20;

To disable any Final Cut conversion, select all your clips in the Library, go to the Video Inspector and disable Color Conform.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FxvseEztxjYo9rXkTW7gx%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%209.05.13%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=fc204fcd-161d-4be8-8ab4-c5139920decb" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Then go to the Info Inspector and make sure no LUT is applied under Camera LUT.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FnaVgEDnbT1CJYSQk8877%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%209.04.22%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=8dfe102e-5f81-4987-aab9-5179e27e045a" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

With the color management settings matched between CineDream and Final Cut Pro you can expect a 1:1 match.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FK9NkWMDUMIbu4AR3Nt5u%2Ffinal%20cut%20match.png?alt=media&amp;token=4076f7e7-d0e2-4df5-a5cb-5fe2923e77a1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Color Management DaVinci Resolve

{% embed url="<https://colorgradingcentral.wistia.com/medias/fo07t49ntm?embedType=web_component&seo=true&videoWidth=960>" %}

In DaVinci Resolve there are 2 color management menus to pay attention to.

Preferences→General

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2F5AyTKukZbpJyukFTeuZY%2FScreenshot%202025-10-24%20at%2010.57.24%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=5e859dc2-b5c6-4cef-8b07-7765923dac20" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here you can choose to enable/disable "Use Mac display color profiles for viewers" (on Mac) and "Use Windows display color management and HDR for viewers" (on Windows) which is equivalent to switching your monitor's ICC Profile on or off.

Enabling it means Resolve will do the necessary conversions to ensure the image displayed in Resolve’s viewer adapts to the characteristics and color space of your monitor.&#x20;

In Preferences/Color, make sure ICC Profile is checked if you chose to keep Display Color Management enabled in Resolve, and unchecked if you chose to keep Display Color Management disabled.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FCEPoFxEieR07KGkhdBWm%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%201.42.21%E2%80%AFPM%20copy%202.png?alt=media&amp;token=06f3623e-7bf4-42f5-9bbe-76b7f94e3804" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The second menu to look at is Project Settings/Color Management

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FAtG9cajhT6K1Tqjdk0Cu%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%209.23.01%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=9208996a-ddde-4132-b31d-5024794bb804" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here make sure Color Science is set to DaVinci YRGB, this means you’ll be using a non-color managed workflow. This is important because all your color management will happen inside CineDream and we don’t want two different color managements, Resolve and CineDream, to collide.

Then for Timeline and Output color space choose Rec709, gamma 2.4 for broadcast or 2.2 for web, depending on your intended delivery. If you checked "Viewers match Quicktime player when using Rec.709 (Scene)" in the Preferences menu to ensure Resolve and Quicktime Player match, change the Timeline color space and Output color space to Rec709 (Scene).

Back to CineDream, Preferences/Color menu, set the gamma accordingly. If you chose Rec709 (Scene), change Gamma to 1.9 (Apple), as that is the Gamma used in Quicktime Player.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FoAQtDDFwGSOidAmD05Km%2FScreenshot%202025-09-19%20at%209.34.39%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=877549f1-7f78-4fbc-a24f-44c113450a33" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

With the color management settings matched between CineDream and Adobe Premiere Pro you can expect a 1:1 match.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FGQrNrN1epDQOIT5yj6GV%2Fresolve%20match.png?alt=media&amp;token=0254af3c-1a18-4ad9-9c2b-fe2ca346ec2e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Images turn black after applying CineDream to clips (Windows)

# The Shot Matching page doesn’t show up (DaVinci Resolve)

{% embed url="<https://colorgradingcentral.wistia.com/medias/yi9x0ii22g?embedType=web_component&seo=true&videoWidth=960>" %}

**Cause:** CineDream doesn’t support the Shot Matching page in DaVinci Resolve because of limitations in OFX architecture in Resolve. OFX doesn’t support the ability to send multiple clips at a time to CineDream.

**Solution:** DaVinci Resolve has shot matching and grouping built in. You can use Resolve’s built-in tools for these steps.

To create a side by side view for matching select two or more clips and enable Split screen view, then select Selected Clips from the dropdown menu.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FGHFmCcm4kp5eMTmfirTv%2FScreenshot%202025-09-25%20at%2010.15.58%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=d3b1ad26-5eef-46e0-92c1-7a6063ed4e15" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

To create a group select two or more clips, then right click over a thumbnail and select Add into a New Group from the contextual menu.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FBi2oyKQO5RhTKXEfqsws%2FScreenshot%202025-09-25%20at%2010.16.25%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=91a38159-52f6-47b9-a1ec-bbc63cb7752a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Grain looks different in CineDream’s viewer vs the host application viewer

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FqOk8fDsnx1wtnTYzrkKL%2Fdiferencia%20grain.png?alt=media&amp;token=7748e778-df33-4b2f-a9f0-f4de6850f385" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Cause:** The Grain feature demands a lot of processing power from your system, to keep it running light, without any bottle necks, we run a lower resolution version of grain inside CineDream’s viewer. But after clicking Apply, the high resolution version of grain is applied in the host application.

**Solution:** When setting up Grain, keep CineDream’s viewer and the host application viewer side by side, so as soon as you click Apply, you can see the results. Use this side by side set up to monitor and dial in the correct amount and size of grain.

# I don't get real time playback in the host application after applying CineDream

**Cause:** Color Correction and texture effects like halation, bloom and grain demand a lot of processing power. Some systems might struggle to play it back in realtime specially on timeline with high resolution footage (4k, 8K).&#x20;

**Solution:** Lower the resolution playback on the host application or render timeline.

**DaVinci Resolve**

Go to the Playback menu and lower the Timeline Playback Resolution

# CineDream crashes frequently

**Cause:** On most cases these errors are caused by a faulty installation or an issue with the imported LUT folder.

**Solution:** Go to Preferences then Color and remove the LUTs folders. Then perform a clean install.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2F3aEo7G58KcwMdfTIq2j3%2FScreenshot%202025-09-25%20at%2011.20.28%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=50f236ec-b81e-44d6-a1e8-73c7849f83ee" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Cause:** CineDream fetches the original clip from the host application so it won’t show any desqueezing, resizing or rotation performed by it.&#x20;

**Solution:** This is a software limitation we hope to resolve in a future update, we don’t have a fix at this moment. In the meantime nesting each clip and then applying CineDream to the nest/compound clip will make CineDream “read” the desqueezing and any sizing or rotation change happening inside the nest.

**DaVinci Resolve:** Right click over the clip and select New Compound Clip from the contextual menu.

<figure><img src="https://1449894025-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXV6dIa2ZTHDKnFjYTLCU%2Fuploads%2FiZJEWXqkhfQh7zE55MmD%2FScreenshot%202025-09-25%20at%201.51.33%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&amp;token=29bc2ae1-aced-4ba3-a672-cc5b9e11bcb0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Cause:** CineDream is meant to be applied to regular clips, it won’t work when applied to a multicam clip.

**Solution:** Open the multicam clip and apply CineDream to the clips contained in it, then click Open Controls and grade as usual.
