Look Panel & LUTs

The Look panel is present in the Final Grading page and it lets you apply multiple Look LUTs as well as apply different tools aimed at film emulation.

The LUTs you’ll find in this section are the ones imported into CineDream from the Preferences menu as well as some preloaded LUTs that come as part of CineDream.

Once you click on Apply Look LUT, they are displayed as preview thumbnails in a grid view. At the top left corner of the grid you’ll find options to search LUTs by name or group, as well as an Image Size slider. On the top right corner, a Mix slider to control the intensity in which the LUTs are shown in the preview thumbnails, a Cancel button to close the grid view and Accept to apply the selected LUT.

Back to the Look panel, below the LUT selection you’ll find a slider for Luma, to control the intensity of the luminance component of the LUT and Color, to control the intensity of the color component of the LUT. And an Overall Mix slider for the overall intensity of the LUT. This sliders let you control any LUT so you can apply its luma and color components in different intensities, giving you a wider range of possibilities to make those LUTs work with your images.

Below this section you’ll find a plus icon that let’s you apply a second LUT. The options for this second LUT are identical to the ones for the first LUT. This allows you to mix LUTs, for example you can use the Luma from the first LUT and the Colors from the second one.

Then there is a CineDream section where you can enable/disable CineDream and access additional tools to mimic the look of Film:

Film Density: From here you can add Highlights Roll-Off, Fade Film for shadows, Global Density, to make the color more dense, or use the color swatches to control the density of specific colors.

Bloom: To add a Bloom effect, controlling the amount, threshold and softness while at the same time preserving the highlights.

Halation: To add a Halation effect, controlling the amount, threshold, softness and saturation.

Grain: To add a Grain effect, controlling the amount and size of the grain, the amount of it specifically on shadows and the amount of color in the grain.
